Packing 6 days in England…with only two carry-on bags

I’m leaving for England today to check off a photographic dream of shooting a wedding and I am so excited!

But packing has been a nightmare, I didn’t want to check on a bag and risk losing it and my gear must be in my carry-on…so what’s a girl to do?

Pack it all in the carry-on of course!

Now, some may think I’m crazy and usually I would agree but one of my talents is being a tetris master when it comes to packing.

That’s probably one of my favorite parts about traveling to be honest

I’m going to be taking a carry on bag and a tote bag for this trip and this photo shows what all goes in the tote bag

(clockwise: macbook pro, journal, card reader, bag of instax film (happy early birthday to me!), eneloop batteries and charger, hard drive, wallet, chapstick, card holder, iPhone, water bottle, passport and instax instant camera) – not pictured: toiletry bag

For all of the items that I’m taking in my carry-on, it will be 3 pairs of jeans, a dress, a skirt, 5 shirts, one sleep shirt, swim suit (you never know!), my underthings are rolled into a towel, 2 cardigans, day bag, computer charger, mini chi, dry shampoo and camera gear (85 1.8, 135L F/2, 50 1.4, 430EX II Flash) – not pictured Canon 5D Mark III and 28 1.8 lens, umbrella and an extra pair of shoes (flats).

I started by rolling my clothes and piling the jeans, charger, skirt, chi, dry shampoo into the top compartment (I ended up putting my instax camera, umbrella and flats in the top compartment as well)

And then I put the towel, shirts, and camera gear into the main compartment. I added my day bag and swimsuit on top.

The bag closed easily and I didn’t even have to use the expandable option on it! (taken with iPhone)

The main thing to take away is, utilize your space! Use every nook and cranny in the bag and be prepared to layer your clothes.

Let me know how well it works for you!
